the tasting room

A brewery in the heart of the vineyards!

The Filter Room Visitor Centre with its impressive rustic wall murals, depicting traditional brewing methods, subtle lighting and inviting interior, offers more than just a destination. Its contemporary rustic decor, airy cool bar and shaded outside veranda overlooking an orchard, provides visitors with the opportunity to not only try Hawke's Bay's largest range of locally brewed beverages, but also to relax and enjoy their favourite in a idyllic rural setting.

Created from an idea and dream, the merging of two Hawke's Bay brewing icons was born 'The Filter Room Ale & Cider House'. Offering visitors the chance to sample and purchase a complete range of traditionally hand crafted premium ales & ciders.

The Tasting Room has available on tap a selection of 18 beers and ciders including pre-mixed Quake Vodka & Lemon, Quake Bourbon & Cola and also a locally produced 'Bug' Ginger Beer.

The perfect place to buy a gift for your beer-loving friends or family, the Filter Room shop boasts a huge selection of beer and cider branded merchandise.

As a tasting venue, the Filter Room is a groundbreaker, offering imaginatively conceived presentations. A tasting tray lets visitors make their own six-taste selection, combining beers and ciders if so-wished. And while they’re at it, tasters can get an introduction to the art of beer and cider food matching. Award winning chef Richard Wards from the adjoining Cider Tree Café has created a menu to provide a flavour enhancing foil for the Filter Room’s ales & ciders.

The Filter Room Ale and Cider House is more than simply a tasting room though. Why not take the famous Brewery Tour while visiting - lasting approximately 30 minutes, the tour is an informative and educational experience telling the history of Hawkes Bay Independent Brewery and the art and passion of traditional brewing.

Even in an area as internationally renowned with gourmet food and drink destinations as Hawke's Bay, 'The Filter Room Ale & Cider House' stands out as the only NOT TO BE MISSED destination in the Bay.
